Welcome to Howard Middle School Orchestra!

Students will have the opportunity to participate in an instrumental ensemble and experience all types of music and different musical styles in this class. Orchestra is composed of four main instruments. The violin, the viola, the cello, and double bass.

Students will work together as a group to prepare for at least one concert per semester. Be aware that concerts are simply a final presentation of all the exciting things we will be learning throughout the year!

My name is Rachel LaRocca and I am so thrilled to be at Howard Middle School this year as their new orchestra teacher. I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. I specialize in orchestra and have been playing the violin for 12 years and teaching in different settings for six of those years. At Kennesaw State, I was able to study violin privately under Kenn Wagner of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and play with some of the incredible faculty there. I look forward to getting to know my students this year as well as making music with them!

I believe every student has incredible potential. My goal is to create a safe and positive environment for us to learn and grow in. I have high expectations for my students because I know they have the ability to achieve anything they set their minds to.
